Fallout new vegas freezeing.?

Ok when I put in my disc and I press start I press load game then the load screens come out out of nowhere it freezes I tries waiting 2 hours same thing am in the new vegas strip I heard it freezes so I nned this old cowboy hat I do have it but I took it off and saved then it doesn't let me play please help
